The endless amounts of Rain and the confusion over the new CT Saltwater license were the hot topics amongst anglers last week.
Rain and thunder showers kept many anglers from fishing, but with plenty more rain in the forecast anglers will need to pick and choose their spots in order to catch some fish and stay dry at the same time.
For many anglers, rain, wind and turbulent seas are more than enough to keep them away from the water. For others, the constantly changing weather of New England is just an added challenge which is dealt with while pursuing their next trophy catch.
Steve and Clark Anderson Sr. of Shelton, along with Bill Markut of Monroe and Jesse Butwell of Naugatuck chose to battle the elements this past weekend during an annual trip to Lake Ontario in Rochester New York. The four anglers braved unseasonably cold temperatures, rough waters and blinding rains but still managed to land 10 beautiful Lake Trout up to 15 pounds, despite of the harsh conditions. Read more

The American Striper association tour passed through Stratford last weekend holding their third event of the season at Boardwalk Marina. This is the Second year that Boardwalk Marina has sponsored and ASA event and Scott Mitchell who is one of the Owners of Boardwalk was happy to mention that they will also be sponsoring another ASA event later this year in October. News from the salt is that the American Striper Association's 2009 tournament series is coming to Stratford's
Boardwalk Marina this coming Saturday. Anglers from all over the east coast will compete and try their best to catch the two biggest Striped Bass during the one day event.
The ASA is considered the nation's "Premier Striper Tournament Series". In 2009 the ASA will be conducting 8 tournaments along the eastern seaboard from North Carolina to Cape Cod. Striper enthusiasts can choose to fish local tournaments, a division or compete for the prestigious Angler of the Year Award presented to the ASA Boat Captain that exhibits the skills needed to earn the bragging rights as the Nation's best Striped Bass angler.
